23.02.99 - Egg Mayonnaise
Yes, it's true. I'm back. Isn't it exciting? Well, not nearly as exciting as my life has been this last week. Hehe.
Not only am I living in London now and have done so for a week but I have also got a new job! Wohoo!!! I have reached my third and final goal and I am feeling really good about it all. I've just been so busy and right now I am so tired that I haven't been able to devote time to this journal. I don't start my new job in London until the 22nd March so for the time being I am having to commute back to my old job which is an hour long journey in the morning and anything between an hour and two hours coming back in rush hour. Today took me almost two hours and I felt dead when I got home. I just wanted to sleep but now that I live on my own I had to get dinner, make sandwiches for work tomorrow, do some cleaning etc. I bet most of you are reading this and grinning to yourselves knowing that you've been doing this for years and are probably getting a little kick out of reading about my struggle to adjust. I'm doing ok though. Today I was going to cook sausages, beans and an egg but I was so tired I just whipped up a salad in a few minutes and decided that if I was still hungry I could have a bowl of cereal for supper. I'd already got the eggs out so I spent a bit of time making an egg mayonnaise sandwich. Mmmmm, lovely but smelly.
I've been out three nights this past week. One night was just a trip to the pub with Peter for a few quiet drinks, another night was down the same pub with my friend Sri and then Saturday was a big night out. Some of Peter's friends came over and we went to the pub, then went and had the most gorgeous chinese meal I have ever had before coming back here for more drink, cheesecake and watched a couple of episodes of 'South Park'. Following that we went into the West End and went clubbing. I had a really good dance and a laugh with the others and sometime towards the last half of the evening I met someone on the dance floor and managed to get a snog and a phone number. Hehe. I tried the phone number tonight but it was an answering machine so I left a message. Peter persuaded me to follow it up telling me "never burn bridges". I do feel like I have some bridge building to do now that I am finally in London but I realise it will take some time. I think I will make some friends at least at my new place of work.
The job I got is a Helpdesk Support kind of job with a legal firm in the city. It doesn't sound very spectacular but it is not very "run of the mill" as support jobs go. The money is better than I expected originally, the benefits are good, it is only three tube stops from where I live now, there is a possibility for international travel and most importantly... it is not with the NHS! I just can't wait to start, especially as the commuting is killing me.
We haven't met any of the neighbours yet but while Sri and I were eating dinner on Thursday night we heard the ones above having sex. Well, it was mildly amusing. Hehe. I have seen two young, attractive women walking out of the door to the upstairs flats too but I don't know which floor they live on. They look like they might be nice though and I am dying to meet some of them.
I've just about finished my current relationship. The thought of seeing someone new this weekend has spurred me on to sort it out. I've been in the flat since 7pm and in that time I have had about five calls from this person, none of which I answered. I'm really getting angry about it and each time no message has been left. It's like some kind of fatal attraction thing and I am sick to death of it. Grrrrrr.
Anyway there is a TV show I want to watch now so I think I will go to bed and lay there watching it before I go to sleep.
