The Interview
Ask the questions you really want answers to...
If you could go back in time for 5 minutes, without affecting anything in the past or future, where/when would you go and why?
I'd probably go back to some time in history which would give me the answer to one of the many unanswered questions I have grown up wondering about. Who was Jack the Ripper? What really killed the dinosaurs? How was the universe created? I hate not knowing answers to anything and I hate to think that I may never know the answers. I'd like to look forward as much as back and get answers to questions such as "Will aliens make contact with the human race?" or "Will the human race ever invent a cure for cancer or AIDS?".
If you learned you had 3 months to live, what would you do with your time? (assume no repercussions in the "afterlife")
I'd make every moment count. I'd spend time with all the people I care for, eat my favourite ice cream, listen to my favourite music. I'd go swimming, throw the ball for the dog, laugh lots and tell certain people that I love them and why. Finally I would probably throw a big party and make sure that I went out with everyone smiling and/or laughing (including myself).
If you were a vegetable, which one would you be, and why?
A cucumber. I have no idea why but I couldn't "relate" to the other vegetables I was thinking of.
What is the most selfish thing you have ever done?
Refuse to answer this question *g*
If you were turned into a woman for one day (with no repercussions after turning back into a man the next day), what types of things would you do?
First of all I would strip off and look in the mirror (just to check it was true of course!) and then I would get dressed, do the washing and vacuuming, cook dinner for a whole family, pay the bills..... ok so maybe I was a little too realistic in that fantasy. I would probably have sex with a man (yes, that's the answer you were angling after wasn't it?). I would dress up very femininely and walk through the streets to see what kind of reaction I got. I realise that women are treated in different ways by different people and I would probably like to explore that. All in all I would just do stereotypical 'women' things.
If you were offered $10,000 (or pounds, if you prefer) to run down one city block completely naked, with the guarantee that you would not be arrested and would remain anonymous, would you do it?
Of course! Wouldn't you?
Do you believe in an afterlife?
No. I think that when we die our life is over. I imagine it as being just like going into a deep dreamless sleep from which we never wake up. I also think that we have created the fantasy of a supposed 'afterlife' because we can't quite deal with or understand that life can just end as it does. Not very spiritual huh?
Do you have a favorite philosopher?
I'd like to make myself look really cool here and give you a name but the truth is I couldn't even think of a philosopher!
What do you think is your best physical feature?
It's too rude to mention *g* I know you will think I am egotistical for saying that my <bleep> is my best physical feature but really compared to the rest of my body I think it is!
Do you think we are doomed as a species, or that some greater good serves to steer us in the right direction and will ultimately save mankind? (this isn't necessarily a religious question)
I think we are doomed. I don't necessarily think that the human race will die out very soon but certainly don't think the overwhelming forces of the universe will let us carry on indefinitely. After all, the dinosaurs died out and they didn't have wars, social and moral decay and dangerous scientific endeavours to deal with. Despite our best efforts and intentions I think we really are screwing up the Earth in more ways than one. Maybe it's not really our fault in that it's something we just can't keep controlled but I do think it will be our undoing.
If someone was running down the street towards you, screaming "help!" while an angry mob was running after him/her screaming "stop him/her!", would you: 1) help the person; 2) stop the person and aid the mob; or 3) just watch and not interfere?
I really think I would be too confused to do anything at all. I don't like to rush into a situation without knowing the full details and what the implications will be (which is perhaps why I hesitate to do anything exciting in my life!) so I think I would just watch and not interfere. That's not to say I would be apathetic about the situation, just that I don't rush in blindly and the urgency of the situation would probably just throw me completely.
What is your happiest memory?
My Mum, my sister and I sitting around watching something funny on television and laughing until it hurt!
If you had the power of a "Q" what is the first thing you would do?
Snap my fingers and get rid of my powers. Where's the fun or the challenge in being omnipotent?
What is your greatest fear?
Being lonely and unhappy.
Is there any one person who has had a profound impact on your life? If so, who?
I feel like I owe it to people to put their name here and I hope they won't be offended to find that they are not here because they should realise that they have had almost as much if not equal impact on my life but the question asked me to choose "one" person so....... I would have to say it is my friend James. He has made me realise that I can have a life, be myself and still be accepted, assert my rights over others domineering influence and has taught me to 'get out there' more and make friends. He has opened so many doors for me and has made a huge impact on my life in the last year. My life is ever changing and more so in the last year than any other. I owe much of it to myself but James has also made much of it possible. He'd probably cringe to read this but sometimes the truth is embarrassing eh? (for more examples of such embarrassment just read my journal regularly!)
Is there one food that you absolutely hate, and would rather be tortured than eat it?
There's several in fact, but one springs to mind right at this moment...... curry.
Would you rather have sexual organs that glowed red when you were aroused, or have the faint sound of playground chatter emanating from your crotch? (Thanks to the "Would You Rather...?" books)
Playground chatter. Enough said.
What is your favorite piece of clothing?
As of today (13th September) it is a cream coloured, long sleeved top made of a sort of towelling material.
If there is one thing you could change about yourself, what would it be?
My reluctance to do anything on impulse. I'd love to just "go for it" but something within me always holds me back.
What is the meaning of life?
Does it have to have a meaning? I wouldn't even know where to being answering this question but I do feel that there is no underlying meaning to life. I think it is just there and it ticks along day after day in it's own varied and unique way.
Questions posed by Kath Furgerson and answered by Rich Hull, 1998.
